Foro Romano and Colosseum from Vittorio Emanuele II Monument //
Description
During our last trip to Rome in April 2016, we fell in love with the Vittorio Emanuele II Monument, a monument built in honour of the first king of unified Italy. There is a view platform at the top of the monument with views over the Roman Forum (or Foro Romano) to the Colosseum and beyond. The forum was a marketplace and dates to 7th Century BC. Most of the buildings and structures are gone and mostly ruins remain.
